Frank Julicher is a Director at the Max Planck Institute for the Physics of Complex Systems and a Professor of Biophysics at the Dresden University of Technology. He completed his Doctoral degree in physics at the University of Cologne, Germany. He held a CNRS research position at the Physico-Chimie Curie, Institut Curie, Paris, and habilitated from the University of Paris VII. His research focuses on theoretical approaches to understanding dynamic processes in cells and tissues. Work on active cellular processes includes the study of cellular oscillations, the physics of hearing, and cytoskeletal dynamics during cell division, cell motility, and tissue development.
