Frank Gress, MD, serves as Senior Faculty in Gastroenterology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and The Mount Sinai Hospital. He leads the interventional endoscopy program for Mount Sinai on Long Island, serving as Medical Director of the Center for Interventional Endoscopy at South Nassau Communities Hospital.

Dr. Gress is an active researcher, primarily focused on endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) and interventional endoscopy, and is an investigator on many clinical studies involving the use of new devices and techniques to diagnose and treat pancreaticobiliary diseases. An important focus of his research has been on the application of EUS in the diagnosis, staging, and biopsy of pancreatic cysts and malignancies. Dr. Gress joined Mount Sinai in 2018 from NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center, where he was Professor of Medicine and Clinical Chief in the Division of Digestive and Liver Diseases.

Dr. Gress completed his medical school training at Mount Sinai School of Medicine and his residency in Internal Medicine at Montefiore Medical Center. He completed his fellowship in Gastroenterology under the mentorship of Maurice Cerulli, MD, at the Brooklyn Hospital Center and the State University of New York, Health Sciences Center. After completing his fellowship, Dr. Gress was awarded the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE) Advanced Endoscopy Scholarship, which was established to support advanced training in therapeutic endoscopy. There, he was an early investigator in the development of EUS as it evolved into an important diagnostic and therapeutic technique.
