Dr. Gilliam is Professor of Neurology and Director of The Regional Epilepsy Program and Epilepsy Research at Penn State University School of Medicine. He was previously Director of the Epilepsy Programs at Washington University and Columbia University. He completed his clinical epilepsy and neurophysiology training at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard University, as well as the Cleveland Clinic. His research has focused on patient-oriented health outcomes, neuroimaging of epileptic brain injury, novel therapeutic strategies, and genomics of human epilepsy. His research projects have been funded by the National Institutes of Health, the American Epilepsy Society, and the Epilepsy Foundation. His Mid-Career Mentor Award from the NINDS supported collaboration with many junior investigators, an opportunity for which he is immensely grateful. He has co-authored more than 150 papers and chapters. He has served on the editorial boards of Epilepsy and Behavior and Epileptic Disorders, and was a prior Co-Editor for Epilepsy Research.
