Frank Baganz PhD

Frank currently holds a position as Senior Lecturer in the department of Biochemical Engineering at University College London where he started as a lecturer in 1999. He has an established track record in modelling, engineering and scale-up/down of fermentation and bioconversion processes. In particular, he established the engineering fundamentals of mixing and oxygen transfer in micro wells and developed novel miniaturised bioreactors (MBR). This research also demonstrated the feasibility of predictive scale up of microbial fermentations and cell culture processes from MBR to lab scale reactors using established methods. In recognition for his contributions to this area he received the 2010 Pharmaceuticals Division Plenary Award of the AIChE.
