Francois Pralong was born in 1961, this Valaisan studied medicine in Geneva, followed by a thesis on his area of expertise and interest throughout his academic career. His PhD work has focused on the role of neuropeptide Y in hypothalamic changes induced by glucocorticoids. This subject at the interface between the central nervous system, the neuroendocrine system and metabolic control has been a driving force in his activity for many, many years.
After obtaining a double title of specialist in internal medicine and endocrinology, Prof. F. Pralong completed a fellowship at the Endocrinology and Reproductive Unit at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston affiliated with Harvard Medical School. Back in Switzerland in 1996, he was awarded a scholarship by the Prof. Foundation. Dr. Max Cloëtta. Her academic career was remarkable after obtaining numerous national grants from the National Fund for Scientific Research, in parallel with a very active clinical activity.
