Francisco Antonio Helfenstein Fonseca is currently a Professor of Medicine at the Federal University of Sao Paulo, Department of Medicine, Cardiology Division, and head of the Lipids, Atherosclerosis, and Vascular Biology Laboratory. He was a research fellow at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine and has been serving as a steering committees member in landmark trials such as the JUPITER and the CANTOS, In recent years Dr. Fonseca develop studies focusing on the role of subtypes of lymphocytes in the acute myocardial infarction aiming the use of immunomodulation for the therapy of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease.
