Dr Seow-Choen is a colorectal surgeon in private practice in Singapore. He was variously Head of Department of Colorectal Surgery at Singapore General Hospital, Head of Surgical Oncology at the National Cancer Centre, as well as Adjunct Associate Professor at both National University of Singapore (NUS) and Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Singapore. He is visiting professor to several universities and hospitals overseas and is a well-known world-wide teacher and trainer in colorectal surgery. He received the Excellence for Singapore Award in 2000 for his contributions to international colorectal surgery.
Dr Seow-Choen was a member of the first international team to reach Aceh and help after the tsunami in December 2004. He was the founding chairman of Guide Dogs Association of the Blind in Singapore until 2015. Dr Seow-Choen is also an entomologist with seven books on stick-insects.
