Francis J. Caputo, MD, is the Vascular Surgery Director of the Aorta Center, Program Director of the Vascular Surgery Training Programs, and staff vascular surgeon in the Sydell and Arnold Miller Family Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute. He is also a Professor of Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University. He sees patients at the Cleveland Clinic Main Campus.

Dr. Caputo earned his medical degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, Newark, NJ, where he also served his surgical residency and two years as a National Institutes of Health research fellow. He completed his fellowship in vascular surgery at Barnes-Jewish Hospital of Washington University, St. Louis, Mo., where he served as an administrative fellow. He joined the Cleveland Clinic medical staff in 2018.

Dr. Caputo has authored or co-authored over 80 publications in leading medical and surgical journals and has contributed chapters to 6 medical textbooks. He serves as the National Chairman for the Open AAA module for the Vascular Quality Initiative. He is regularly invited to present information about his expertise and research in aortic surgery. He has also presented papers and posters at international and national medical meetings, including the Society for Vascular Surgery and the Society for Clinical Vascular Surgery annual meetings. His research interests included clinical outcomes in aortic surgery, particularly the role of regionalized care.
