Dr. Frances Cuomo, M.D. is the Chief of Shoulder Service and Director of the Shoulder and Elbow Fellowship in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Beth Israel Medical Center. Dr. Cuomo previously served as Chief of the Shoulder Service at New York University (NYU)/Hospital for Joint Diseases, where she also was Director of the Shoulder Research Group and Shoulder Fellowship. Her academic appointments include Assistant Professor of Orthopedics at Albert Einstein School of Medicine and Clinical Instructor of Surgery at Cornell University Medical Center.

Dr. Cuomo holds a medical degree from NYU School of Medicine. She completed an internship in general surgery at Beth Israel and a residency in orthopedic surgery at Lenox Hill Hospital. Additionally, she completed the Charles S. Neer II Fellowship in shoulder and elbow surgery at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center and New York Orthopedic Hospital.

Board certified, Dr. Cuomo is a member of American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons and the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. She has taught numerous continuing medical education courses and has editorial responsibilities at such professional publications as Techniques in Shoulder and Elbow Surgery and Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery.
