Fran is trained as a social worker because she wanted to make a difference to people's lives. She became fascinated by how greatly service users were affected for good or ill by the way organisations worked together, and as a result made a career in local government and NHS commissioning - establishing new services and redesigning others - to try and overcome the problems she has seen.

She spent eight years as a counselor in an inner London borough with great deprivation, at a point when the council was really failing local residents. She was part of an amazing team who turned things around and was privilege to do so.

She is skilled at dealing with conflict, she understands the power of competing interests, and she enjoys challenging and supporting organizational and community leaders to work together to tackle inequality and disadvantage. She chair boards fairly and effectively; she contribute to other strategic partnerships that she belongs to; and she is sensitive to the range of pressures that colleagues face.

She is passionate about safeguarding and have a breadth of experience across adults' and children's services that is unusual. Her greatest interest is in working with service users, professionals and politicians to learn from the past in order to make changes to systems in the future.
