Fliss Murtagh PhD, FRCP, MRCGP, MBBS

Dr. Fliss E M Murtagh, Ph.D., FRCP, MRCGP, MBBS is a Professor of Palliative Care at Hull York Medical School, Associate Director of the Wolfson Palliative Care Research Centre, and an NIHR Senior Investigator.

She leads Integrated Academic Training for Hull York Medical School and is Academic Training Programme Director – North & East Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire.

Fliss works clinically as a Consultant in Palliative Medicine at Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

Fliss qualified in medicine in the UK in 1986. She worked in General Practice for almost 10 years and then undertook specialist training in palliative medicine. She worked at the Cicely Saunders Institute, King's College London from 2002 to 2017, where she completed her PhD, became Clinical Senior Lecturer, and then Reader in Palliative Medicine.

She is now a Professor of Palliative Care at Hull York Medical School, and Visiting Professor of Palliative Care at the Cicely Saunders Institute, King’s College London, UK.
