Dr. Filippo Gagliardi holds the role of primary assistant at the Neurosurgery and Gamma Knife Operating Unit of the IRCCS San Raffaele Hospital, directed by Professor Pietro Mortini.

After graduating with honors in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Verona in 2006, he specialized with honors in Neurosurgery at the Vita-Salute San Raffaele University of Milan in 2013. He completed his training in 2016, obtaining his doctorate in Neuroscience at the International Doctoral School in Molecular Medicine of the Vita-Salute University of Milan.

Dr. Gagliardi won the “Karl Storz” international prize for skull base surgery research (2012). He was also a Research fellow at the Department of Neurosurgery of the Ludwig Maximilian University (Munich, Germany) and at the Department of Neurosurgery of the George Washington University (Washington DC, USA), with which he currently continues to collaborate on numerous research projects and periodic on-site training internships.

In 2011 he passed the written examination of Neurosurgery at the "European Association of Neurosurgical Societies" . In 2017 you obtained the national scientific qualification as II band professor in Neurosurgery.

From a clinical point of view, Dr. Gagliardi mainly deals with the surgery of brain and spinal tumors, stereotactic techniques, stereotactic radiosurgery and instrumented and minimally invasive vertebral surgery.

As regards the research activity, Dr. Gagliardi is actively engaged in the development of clinical and pre-clinical research projects concerning the molecular biology of the treatment of brain tumors, the molecular characterization of cancer stem cells, and the development of innovative protocols of neuroimaging and radiogenomics. Fields of clinical research include the development of new microsurgical techniques and technologies for the treatment of brain and skull base tumors and innovative training models in neurosurgery.

He has been invited as a member of the scientific committee in numerous international courses and meetings in Europe, the United States and Australia.

He is currently responsible for more than 10 international and national research projects, eligible for funding from public and private entities.

He is the author of more than 90 scientific publications in international journals and numerous chapters in neurosurgery textbooks, published by international publishing houses and online journals. His current H-index is 19. He has invited lectures and seminars at Italian and foreign universities, including Macquarie University (Sydney, NSW, Australia) and George Washington University (Washington DC, USA).
