Dr. Filippo Ceccato is a Senior Assistant Professor in Endocrinology at the Department of Medicine DIMED, University of Padova, and a consultant in Clinical Endocrinology at the Endocrine Unit (expertise in pituitary and adrenal diseases), University-Hospital of Padova.
His research activity is focused on the diagnosis of pituitary and adrenal neoplasm (especially Cushing’s syndrome, adrenal carcinoma, incidentaloma, acromegaly, and adrenal insufficiency), on the clinical application of mass spectrometry for cortisol-related diseases, management of disease-related complications and identification of genetic alterations in inherited diseases and endocrine tumors.
He graduated in medicine (2009, title AIP mutations in patients with acromegaly) and he completed his residency in endocrinology and metabolism in 2015 (title: First line screening tests in patients with Cushing’s Syndrome). He completed his Ph.D. in Endocrinology and Metabolism (project: Combination of medical treatment in patients with pituitary adenoma) at the University of Padova in 2018.
He is a sub-investigator in phase III/IV clinical trials for several treatments of pituitary adenoma, acromegaly, Cushing’s Syndrome (pasireotide, pegvisomant, metyrapone, osilodrostat, relacorilant), and he focuses his attention to the evaluation of possible novel medical therapies (or combination of known drugs). He is an invited speaker in more than 30 lectures and presenting author of more than 10 oral communications at International and National Congresses/Symposia. He is the author of more than 110 publications in peer-reviewed journals (H-Index 25, 1800 citation index.).
In 2018 he obtained the Italian National Scientific Qualification as Associate Professor in Endocrinology (MED/13, 06/D2), and in 2019 The Award for Best Researcher in Endocrinology under 35 for the Italian Society of Endocrinology.
