Ferry Eskens , oncologist followed between 1997 and 1999, after completion of the training as an internist in Nijmegen, the follow-up medical oncologist at the Erasmus MC in Rotterdam. Since 1999 he works there as a staff internist oncologist. He is a member of the translational pharmacology section and coordinating clinical trials carried out in this section. The focus of his clinical research is on the development of new anticancer drugs, with an emphasis on the so-called cancer-specific resources, including design, implementation and output of phase I and early phase II trials, the integration of translational pharmacology in these studies . His other interest is in the treatment of tumors of the upper gastrointestinal tract.

In addition to clinical and teaching duties he spent eight years as a member and vice-chairman of the Medical Ethics Committee of Erasmus MC, he is the national Commission (by 2011 secretary) since 2009 Review Oncology Resources, since 2010 member (since 2011 chairman ) of the editorial board of Medical Oncology and since 2011 member of the board of the NVMO.

He has several scientific articles and book chapters (with) written, and has given lectures nationally and internationally on the subjects of his expertise. Ferry Eskens is a reviewer for various oncology journals and is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the European Society of Medical Oncology and various regional and national cancer groups and consortia.
