Fernando G. Cosio, M.D., centers on the role of humoral mechanisms in renal disease, particularly glomerulonephritis. Specifically, Dr. Cosio looks at complement activation, antibody formation, and immune complex-mediated diseases. He is also involved with patient-oriented research in glomerulonephritis and renal transplantation and has an additional interest in transplant nephrology, particularly investigations of pathogenic mechanisms that affect long-term kidney allograft function.
