Dr. Schmidt completed her medical school and residency training in dermatology at the University of Campinas in Brazil in 2007 and 2012, respectively, where she identified a special interest in pediatric dermatology. Therefore, she sought additional training in pediatric dermatology in the United States, completing a Pediatric Dermatology fellowship at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital in 2014. In order to further expand her training in complex pediatric medical care, she then completed a rigorous internship in General Pediatrics at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital in 2015.
Dr. Schmidt joined the faculty in the Division of Pediatric Dermatology at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital in 2015 as an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine with a joint appointment in the Department of Dermatology. At CCHMC, she has directed the general and multidisciplinary Pediatric Dermatology clinics, authored scientific articles and book chapter and developed the Pediatric Dermatology curriculum of the dermatology residency program.
In 2018 Dr. Schmidt joined the renowned Dr. Phillip Frost Department of Dermatology and Cutaneous Surgery at the University of Miami, where in addition to clinical service, she also dedicates her time to clinical research, teaching, community service and strengthening the relationship between the departments of Dermatology and Pediatrics.
She cares for children and adolescents with all dermatologic conditions and has a special clinical interest in ichthyoses and other disorders of keratinization, congenital and acquired melanocytic lesions, atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, inpatient pediatric dermatology and use of systemic immunosuppressive therapies in children, among others.
