Fenella Wojnarowska was educated at Somerville College, Oxford, and St Mary’s Hospital Medical School, London and appointed a clinical dermatology consultant at Oxford. Soon involved in clinical and scientific research I became Professor of Dermatology in 1999, one of the very few women Oxford clinical professors. Fenella's clinical and research interests were the autoimmune blistering diseases and women’s health including vulval disease, pregnancy dermatoses, and their treatment. Fenella Wojnarowska was President of the British Society for the Study of Vulval Disease and the European Women’s Dermatologic Society and on the executive of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology. Fenella Wojnarowska was awarded a Platinum Award for Clinical Excellence by the Department of Health (<400 in total). Fenella Wojnarowska was Maria Duran Lecturer in 2006 for the International Dermatology Society. In 2009 I was awarded the Parkes-Weber Medal by the Royal College of Physicians, a Certificate of Appreciation by the International League of Dermatological Societies and received the ISSVD Presidential Recognition Award. Since retirement from Fenella Wojnarowska has been lead clinician for the BLISTER trial published in The Lancet in 2017, and have participated in Cochrane reviews and guidelines. In retirement Fenella Wojnarowska has focussed on Outreach, helping pupils from Cornwall, an impoverished and disadvantaged area, to go to Oxbridge, Medical School, and high ranking universities. This involves mentoring, one of the favorite aspects of my career.
