Dr. Felipe Jose Fernandez Coimbra graduated from the Federal University of Para, he completed his master's degree in Oncology in 2005 at the ACCamargo Cancer Center. He specialized in Surgical Cancerology at the Brazilian Society of Cancerology, in 2003. He is a member of medical societies of oncology and surgery involved in the treatment, diagnosis, and prevention of abdominal tumors, such as the Society of Surgical Oncology, International Society of Gastrointestinal Oncology, Brazilian College of Surgeons, Brazilian Society of Oncological Surgery, SBC, ABCG, IHPBA. He is the general coordinator of the Continuing Education Program in Gastrointestinal Oncology at ACCamargo (Pecogi), chairs the program of international events on cancer of the digestive system, and is a member of the International Research Committee and the Executive Board of the Society of Liver, Pancreas and Biliary Tracts of the Americas (AHPBA). He was president of the Brazilian Society of Oncological Surgery between 2015 and 2017, leading the recognition of the Oncological Surgery specialty in Brazil; he is the only Brazilian to preside over the Americas Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association from 2019 to 2020 (representing, at the same time, American associations and more than 20 countries on the continent), having, in May 2020, given the Presidential Address in the USA (opening class of the American Congress of Liver Surgery, Pancreas and Biliary Tracts) under the theme: Shaping the Future of HPB Oncology in Americas and Precision Surgery for Tumors of the Liver, Pancreas and Biliary Tracts; he is a member of the editorial committee of scientific journals in the area; he is the founder of the Brazilian Journal of Oncology and of the Brazilian Oncology Week; he is president and organizer of several national and international scientific congresses; author of more than 100 international publications, consensus and book chapters, as well as principal editor of books in Gastrointestinal Oncology; speaker at several congresses and events in oncology and surgery of abdominal tumors in more than 20 countries.
