Prof. Fareed A. Minhas is a member syndicate and co-chairman of the Board of Advanced Studies & Research at the Rawalpindi Medical University. He is the founder and Director of the Center for Global Mental Health Pakistan. He is also the Director of, WHO Collaborating Center for Mental Health Research & Training. He has a fellowship in psychiatry from the Royal College of Psychiatrists, London, and the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan.

He has served as a psychiatrist in Germany and the UK for five years. For the last three decades, he has been working in Pakistan. He served as professor of psychiatry and head of the institute of psychiatry at RMC for 15 years before retiring in early 2017. Prof. Minhas has trained dozens of psychiatrists who are now serving in various capacities all over the world. He is a prolific researcher and has made significant contributions particularly in liaison psychiatry and community psychiatry. He has been instrumental in establishing ties between local and international institutions for research work, training, and community service.
