Farah Farahati PhD

Dr Farah Farahati is a long term high performing and strategic thinking health economist with successful collaborative projects with the Federal government States academic healthcare and industry partners and teaches health economics and public health research methods at the University of Maryland With her long term teaching and research experience Dr Farahati brings the knowledge of obtaining and translating complex economic information into actionable policy language and present them to diverse audiences She received her Ph D in economics from Northern Illinois University and did her post doctoral training in health economics at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and McMaster University Her field of interest is to develop analytical modeling to identify and quantify the determinants of population health and the most cost effective strategies that improve lives save money and decrease health disparities Dr Farahati has strong interest and experience in supporting decision makers in various projects with the U S Department of Health and Human Services the Health Affairs journal Merck Co Inc and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services projects Currently she is interested in optimizing the American health system s performance following the Quadruple Aim by improving the patient experience of care improving the health of populations reducing the per capita cost of health care and improving the work life of health care providers by identifying and correcting healthcare disparity by socio demographic variations
