Dr Fang Hu is a professor and deputy director of the Metabolic Syndrome Research Center, Department of Metabolism and Endocrinology, the Second Xiangya Hospital of Central South University, China. She earned her Ph.D in Biology at Texas Tech University, Lubbock, TX, and had postdoctoral training at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI. She is a member of the Expert Committee on Mitochondrial Diseases, the Chinese Medical Doctor Association, and the Committee of Basic Research and Translational Medicine, the Chinese Diabetes Society. Dr. Hu has published more than 30 peer-reviewed papers in prestigious academic journals. She is interested in understanding the molecular mechanisms of insulin resistance, obesity, and diabetes. Her work was supported by the National Nature Science Foundation of China, the International Science & Technology Cooperation Program of China, and the National Basic Research Program of China.
