Javier Arsuaga has a joint appointment in the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology as well as the Department of Mathematics. He develops mathematical and computational methods to address questions that arise in the study of the 3D structure of chromosomes. Most recently and in response to the COVID-19 pandemic he is developing new mathematical and data science methods to study the evolution of the SARS-COV2 variants.
