Evelyn received a B.A. in 1984 and an M.A. in 1988 in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Kansas. She worked in a variety of clinical settings as a speech-language pathologist prior to beginning her Ph.D. program at The Ohio State University. She continued her clinical work while pursuing this degree, and graduated in 2007. She completed postdoctoral work at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and at OSU until 2009. She is now a research scientist and works with Larry Feth in the psychoacoustics lab. She is currently researching noise-induced hearing loss with the focus on developing a rapid assessment tool for use after noise exposure. She also maintains her clinical ties to speech-language pathology, since communication relies on both sides of the speech and hearing ‘coin’.
