Eveline Bleiker, Ph.D. is associate professor at the Netherlands Cancer Institute in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. In 1995 she obtained her PhD degree in Medical Psychology at the VU-University of Amsterdam (Thesis: 'Personality factors and breast cancer: a prospective study of the relationship between psychological factors and the development of breast cancer'). Following her PhD graduation, she was awarded a 2-year research fellowship of the Dutch Cancer Society to investigate psychosocial issues in genetic counseling for cancer. During her fellowship she collaborated with various clinical genetic centers in the Netherlands.

In addition, she worked at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York. In 2003, she received a Clinical Cancer Research Award, to establish a special research line within the Netherlands Cancer Institute on psychosocial and behavioral issues in cancer genetics. Since 2008, Dr. Bleiker is group leader within the Division of Psychosocial Research and Epidemiology and is also associated with the Family Cancer Clinic of the Netherlands Cancer Institute. She supervises master students, PhD students and postdocs and occasionally teaches at the University of Amsterdam and VU University.
