Mr Eugene Ong is a specialist colorectal surgeon who has undergone extensive training in the field of Colorectal Surgery. He has worked in the leading colorectal centres of the world alongside recognised pioneers and experts in colorectal surgery. He is especially skilled in minimally invasive surgery including laparoscopic (“Key-hole”), single-incision laparoscopic surgery (SILS), robotic surgery, endoscopic surgery (colonoscopy) and Trans-anal Endoscopic Microsurgery (TEMs) and is now considered an expert in the field. He has published and presented papers on minimally invasive surgery, has been a member of faculty on courses of minimally invasive surgery both in Australia and internationally and has trained numerous other surgeons in the technique.

He is involved in teaching and research and has a number of peer-reviewed publications and presentations at national and international conferences as well as being an invited speaker. See his full list of qualifications below.

Mr Ong treats the full spectrum of colorectal disease but has particular expertise in the management of colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn’s disease and Ulcerative Colitis), functional and pelvic-floor disorders (incontinence, constipation and rectal prolapse) and endometriosis involving the colorectum.
