Eugene Kolker is Chief Data Officer at Seattle Children’s. Eugene has over 25 years of experience in multi-disciplinary data analysis, predictive analytics, and modeling and over 15 years of experience in management, business, and community development. At Seattle Children’s, he heads the Data and Analytics team, which focuses on leveraging large and complex data to improve customer safety and outcomes and drive innovation (cdoanalytics.org). In addition to his hospital work, Dr. Kolker is an adjunct professor at Northeastern University College of Science, Boston and an affiliate professor at University of Washington School of Medicine, Seattle.

In April 2015, Eugene was honored by the HIMSS members to be one of the top three “Innovators” in their annual HIT Awards, which recognize industry leaders improving healthcare through technology. In May 2015, he was named one of the “top 16 data-driven geeks to watch” by HIMSS. In June 2015, one of his papers on integrative analysis of personal biomedical data won the first price in the Metabolites Best Papers Award.

Eugene Kolker, Ph.D, is chief data (analytics) officer at Seattle Children’s -- Hospital, Foundation, and Research Institute. Eugene has more than 25 years of experience in multi-disciplinary data analysis, predictive analytics, and modeling and more than 15 years of experience in management, business and community development.

At Seattle Children’s, Eugene heads the CDOAnalytics team, which focuses on leveraging large and complex data to improve outcomes and safety, reduce costs, broaden access, and drive innovation (cdoanalytics.org). In addition to the hospital work, he is also director of Bioinformatics & High-throughput Analysis Laboratory (kolkerlab.org) at the Research Institute.

Previously, Eugene was founder and president of BIATECH Research and Innovation Center, which was acquired by Seattle Children’s. Currently, he is an adjunct professor at Northeastern University College of Science, Boston and an affiliate professor at University of Washington School of Medicine, Seattle.

He has 120 publications in 40 different journals and also serves as executive editor of the journals “OMICS: A Journal of Integrative Biology” and “Big Data.”

Recently, Eugene was voted by the readers of Healthcare IT News (published by HIMSS, Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society) as one of the top three "Innovators" in 2015, in their annual H.I.T. Men & Women Awards, which recognize industry leaders who are helping improve care through technology
