Dr. Esra Savas has a professional career with a bachelor's degree from Koc University, a psychology major; master's degree from Capa Medical Faculty, a psychosocial oncology major, and clinical psychology from Walden University; and PhD from Walden University specializing in clinical psychology. Her master's dissertation is "Structured Psychoeducation Program Applied to Gynecological Cancer Patients"; her doctoral dissertation is about "Comparison of Healthy Lifestyle Behaviors, Social Anxiety and Quality of Life Related to Fertility in Women Receiving IVF Treatment and Successful Treatment".

She was awarded as a member of the European Federation of Psychologists Association (EFPA). She completed more than 1000 hours of training on cognitive therapy and gets supervision from a licensed psychologist in the U.S. In addition to talking therapy, she provides training and seminars for people who have cancer, relatives, and experts working in this field to improve the progress of psycho-oncology in Turkey and to provide psychological support. She has completed her training and has been awarded the Grief Recovery Specialist/ Grief Recovery Counselor by The Grief Recovery Institute in the UK and in the USA. Through grief recovery techniques, she helps people who need to improve grief or bereavement after an event caused loss effects such as death, separation, displacement, divorce, loss of pets, loss of health, traumatic experiences, desire, material or spiritual loss. In order to facilitate the recovery of grief, she keeps working on providing grief materials such as editorial books or journals. As the project editor of the Handbook of Grief Recovery, she presented a Turkish resource that can be used to heal from grief in a Turkish country.

As an academician, she has given lectures on health, clinical psychology, and psychotherapy in English and Turkish languages to undergraduate and graduate students at Okan University and Isık University. As of 2020, she continues as the head of the psychology department at Gelişim University, where she also teaches English and Turkish and serves as dissertation chair.

Currently, as a clinical psychologist, psychooncologist, she performs research-based psychotherapies based on cognitive therapy. She is also head of the psychology department at Gelisim University. She continues to work with adults (aged 18-55) in individual and group psychotherapy and provides workshops and training about health psychology, cognitive therapy, and supervision for professionals in related fields.
