Esa Soppi MD, PhD, MBA

Dr. Esa Soppi is the owner and CEO of M.I.T. Consulting Ltd., a specialty consulting company in life sciences and health care, established in 1990. During the last ten years the consulting projects, which Esa Soppi has led or carried out range from strategy, process, and business plan development, through special commercialization assignments to portfolio and risk management. Furthermore, the assignments have included restructuring projects within various hospital districts. Through these assignments and active participation Esa has influenced national healthcare and life science strategies.

Before engaging in consulting Esa Soppi served 12 years in the pharmaceutical industry as medical director and vice president, operations & support functions. His previous employers include Kabi Pharmacia, Pharmacia, Pharmacia & Upjohn, and Orion Pharma. His industry experience ranges from clinical research and financial management to heading IPR, knowledge management, IT, and medical and business support functions.

ESA Soppi also has many years of experience in academic research in immunology/hematology and internal medicine and building up various functions. He is also a board qualified specialist in internal medicine and practices actively medicine and holds an adjunct professorship in internal medicine in Tampere and Kuopio University Hospitals. ESA has published more than 150 peer-reviewed papers.

Since 1992 Esa has served as a scientific advisor and product development and business consultant for Capital Oy, a medical device company. ESA Soppi has an experience of close to 30 years in pressure ulcer prevention, research on the pathophysiology of PU development as well as support surface construction.
