Erin Garvey, MD is a pediatric surgeon at Phoenix Children's Hospital. She completed her general surgery residency in 2016 at Mayo Clinic in Arizona and was the first pediatric surgery fellow trained here at Phoenix Children's Hospital. She joined Phoenix Children's staff after completing her fellowship in 2018. Dr.Garvey is board certified in both general and pediatric surgery by the American Board of Surgery and is an active member of the American College of Surgeons, the American Pediatric Surgical Association, the Association of Women Surgeons, and the Alpha Omega Alpha National Medical Honor Society. She is an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Mayo Clinic School of Medicine and a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Child Health at the University of Arizona College of Medicine. Dr.Garvey specializes in minimally invasive surgery in infants and children with an interest in the multidisciplinary care of colorectal patients and patients with disorders of sexual development. She enjoys pursuing meaningful, evidence-based pediatric surgical research and is participating in prospective randomized controlled trials at Phoenix Children's as well as a multicenter prospective trauma study. Born and raised in Colorado, she graduated summa cum laude from the University of Denver where she was a collegiate springboard diver. Dr. Garvey received her doctorate of medicine in 2011 from the University of Vermont College of Medicine. Now, she lives in Scottsdale with her husband, and they enjoy spending time outside, traveling and surfing.
