Dr. Erin A. Gillaspie, MD, MPH, is a highly respected thoracic surgeon, academic leader, and specialist in advanced lung and chest surgery. She serves as an Associate Professor of Surgery in the School of Medicine at Creighton University and as Chief of Thoracic Surgery within the CHI Health system, leading efforts to expand thoracic surgical care and innovation in Nebraska. Dr. Gillaspie’s clinical expertise focuses on thoracic surgical oncology, minimally invasive and robotic-assisted thoracic procedures, lung cancer treatment, and complex airway and chest wall surgery.
She is board‑certified in Surgery by the American Board of Surgery and in Thoracic Surgery by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery, and she holds hospital privileges at multiple CHI Health facilities, including Creighton University Medical Center – Bergan Mercy, Immanuel, Midlands, and Lakeside. She completed her medical training at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, followed by residency training at Bassett Healthcare, and advanced fellowship training at the Mayo Clinic, where she also refined her expertise in robotic thoracic surgery.
