Dr. Erik Middlebrooks is an Assistant Professor of Neuroradiology and Neurosurgery at Mayo Clinic since 2017. He is currently the Program Director for the Neuroradiology Fellowship. Dr. Middlebrooks focuses on advanced neuroimaging including fMRI, Diffusion Imaging, and PET. His clinical and research interests include functional targeting for movement disorders and functional imaging for brain tumor treatment for language preservation. His research interests also focus on novel methods to improve data quality and processing, which have yielded an international patent for real-time fMRI quality analysis using machine-learning systems.

Dr. Middlebrooks has authored or co-authored multiple peer-reviewed manuscripts including multiple publications in prestigious journals such as the Journal of Neurosurgery and American Journal of Neuroradiology. He also has presented at multiple regional and national meetings. His efforts have been recognized including appointment as Chief Resident, the Outstanding Resident Educator Award from The University of Florida Society of Teaching Scholars, RSNA Roentgen Fellow Research Award, and Gary T. Barnes Distinguished Faculty Award.
