Dr. Erica Peters is an Infectious Diseases and General Medicine consultant at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, Glasgow. She is the clinical lead for the current HIV outbreak amongst homeless PWIDs in Glasgow. She has experience in setting up prison and addiction-based clinics for Hepatitis C since 2009 and as part of her medical inpatient work often manages infections in vulnerable populations. She has advocated for resources and support in setting up a high-quality service that has been adapted to the complex needs of this population in an environment that is non-judgmental and easily accessible for patients. The aims of the clinical service are to provide patient-centered care while promoting treatment as prevention, one of the key public health initiatives in mitigating the outbreak.
