Dr. Erica Lawson is a pediatric rheumatologist at UCSF, where she cares for all children with rheumatic diseases, with a special focus on adolescents and young adults. Lawson sees patients at the Pediatric Rheumatology Clinic in the Gateway Medical Building and in the hospital setting. She is an assistant professor of pediatrics at UCSF School of Medicine and director of the UCSF Pediatric Rheumatology Fellowship Program.
Lawson's main research interests center on improving long-term outcomes and access to adult care for individuals with childhood-onset rheumatic diseases. Her current work seeks to predict long-term health, social and work outcomes of childhood-onset lupus. She also aims to ease the transition to adulthood for young adults with childhood-onset rheumatic disease through improved health-care access and self-care.
Lawson received her undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan and earned her medical degree from Washington University in St. Louis. She completed a residency in pediatrics at Seattle Children's Hospital and a fellowship in pediatric rheumatology at USCF.
She is a member of the American College of Rheumatology; the Childhood Arthritis and Rheumatology Research Alliance; and the American Academy of Pediatrics.
