Dr. Eric Wombwell is a board-certified infectious diseases pharmacist and clinical professor for the Division of Pharmacy Practice and Administration at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Pharmacy, where he is responsible for developing clinical and educational initiatives that promote optimal antimicrobial use.
Dr. Wombwell completed his Pharm.D. degree at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, followed by an ASHP-accredited pharmacy practice residency at the Kansas City VA Medical Center. He has over 15 years of infectious diseases clinical practice experience, maintaining an appointment at Centerpoint Medical Center where he provides infectious diseases and antimicrobial stewardship support and precepts the pharmacy residency infectious diseases rotation.
Dr. Wombwell has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals on pharmacy and infectious diseases-related topics. His research, particularly on Clostridioides difficile infection prevention measures, has been widely recognized, leading to citations in UpToDate and international treatment guidelines. A dynamic and engaging teacher, Dr. Wombwell has delivered over 100 continuing education presentations to various health-professional audiences both locally and nationally. His dedication to teaching excellence has been acknowledged through numerous recognitions, including the University of Missouri-Kansas City Provost’s Award for Excellence in Teaching.
