Eric Giannoni is an FMH specialist in pediatrics, neonatology and intensive medicine. After completing his medical studies, he completed his thesis in the Department of Infectious Diseases of the CHUV, then a pediatrician training. Then he began a thorough training in neonatology at the CHUV.
Dr. Giannoni was appointed Associate Physician in the Department of Neonatology in 2009, then privat-docent and Master of Teaching and Research at the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of UNIL, in 2014. He continues his research activity within from the laboratory of the Infectious Diseases Department of the CHUV with the aim of elucidating the cellular and molecular mechanisms determining the high susceptibility to invasive bacterial infections at the beginning of life. As an investigator of the Swiss Pediatric Sepsis Study, he is developing multi-center translational and clinical projects to better understand host-pathogen interactions and to identify new therapeutic targets and biomarkers of sepsis.
