Eric Coris MD

Dr. Eric E. Coris is a nationally recognized sports medicine physician and Professor of Family Medicine and Orthopaedics at USF Health, where he serves as Director of Primary Care Sports Medicine. With extensive experience caring for athletes at all levels, Dr. Coris specializes in sports medicine, musculoskeletal injuries, concussion management, heat illness, dehydration, and preventive care for active individuals. He has played a key role in developing USF’s sports medicine program into a nationally respected center focused on clinical innovation, education, and athlete wellness.

Dr. Coris earned his medical degree from USF Health Morsani College of Medicine and completed residency training in Family Medicine at St. Vincent's Medical Center. He further advanced his expertise through fellowship training in Family Medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine and Sports Medicine at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, where he worked with Buckeye athletics as a team physician.

In addition to his clinical leadership, Dr. Coris is actively involved in research and academic medicine, with published work focusing on concussion, sudden cardiac death in athletes, stress fractures, and sports-related medical conditions. Patients consistently commend his compassionate communication style, thorough evaluations, and long-standing commitment to personalized care, making him one of the most highly regarded physicians within the USF Health system.
