Enrique Gomez Gomez is a doctor in Biomedicine and a Specialist Physician in the Area of ​​Urology. He currently developing his research activity as a postdoctoral researcher in the emerging group GE05 “Diseases of the genitourinary system” which belongs to the Maimónides Institute for Biomedical Research of Córdoba (IMIBIC). Graduated with the End of Degree award in 2010, he presented his doctoral thesis with international mention and cum laude in 2019. In 2016 he enjoyed a “Rio Hortega” contract associated with the GC27 research group “OncObesity and Metabolism” that is attached to IMIBIC.

Enrique has previously and during that period carried out several international training stays at University College London and Imperial College London under the direction of Prof. H. Hmed, a world expert in the diagnosis of PCa by imaging. These stays have allowed us to maintain scientific contact with different international groups.

In the last 5 years, he has participated in different national competitive projects in the field of prostate cancer and its molecular characterization. These projects that have been funded by different organizations such as Ministry of Science and Innovation (MICINN) (PID2019-105564RB-I00), Foundation for Research in Urology (FUI, 2020), Ministry of Health of the Junta de Andalucía (PI- 0152-2019 and PI-0126-2016), Carlos III Health Institute (DTS20/00050 2021-2022 and PI16/00264, and recently granted a FIS for 2023) and R&D&I projects within the framework of the Program ERDF Operation Andalusia 2014-2020 (27416). Despite his young age, he has published more than 50 articles in indexed journals, most of them Q1 in recent years, with an h-15 index, > 10 book chapters, and > 200 conference communications.

In addition, he is the author of several national and international patents (P201531731 – PCT/ ES2016/070844, P201631606 -PCT/ES2017/070797, CT/ES2020/070086). In its more clinical aspect, it has participated in the development of clinical practice guides, the PI has collaborated in the development of different chapters of the genitourinary system and included in the 6th edition of EMERGENCY AND EMERGENCY MEDICINE: Diagnostic Guide and Action Protocol. 95, ELSEVIER, 07/23/2018. ISBN 978-84-9113-208-0.

Enrique is also among the main authors of the Recommendations of the Andalusian Association of Urology on the diagnosis of prostate cancer 2021 (ISBN:978-84-09-32699-0). He participates in national consortia and working groups in relation to prostate cancer, such as the GESCAP project, as well as the Active Surveillance group of the Spanish Association of Urology (AEU-IEM/2014/0001). Likewise, she has participated in and led the scientific committee of multicenter projects of the same platform (AEUPIEM / 2018/0004), investigating the relationship between biomarkers in urine and Magnetic Resonance in the early diagnosis of Prostate Cancer.

Enrique has received numerous awards, including scholarships for curricular excellence from the AECC, or the award for the best work on prostate from the Royal Academy of Medicine of Seville. He collaborates and manages university teaching and training as an Associate Professor at the University of Córdoba, tutoring residents since 2020 with the direction of numerous TFG, TFM, and current doctoral students.

Enrique collaborates with international societies such as the European Association of Urology and the “European School of Urology” as an evaluator/examiner of candidates for the European Board of Urology (FEBU). He has participated in teaching innovation projects (2014-12-3008) and has been a member of the IMIBIC clinical research commission since 2021.
