Empar Lurbe is currently head of the Pediatric Department at the Hospital General of Valencia, Spain, Professor at the School of Medicine at the University of Valencia, head of CIBERobn group (Center for Biomedical Research in Network for Obesity and Nutrition) and Coordinator of the Cardiovascular Risk Unit in Children and Adolescents in the Valencian Community. She is also Vice president of the European Society of Hypertension and since 2013 Editor in Chief of the Anales de Pediatría, the official journal of the Spanish Pediatric Association.
She is graduated in Medicine from the Medical School at the University of Valencia, Valencia, Spain. Empar Lurbe is specialist in Pediatrics and Nephrology, a Research Fellow in Nephrology and Hypertension for the Northwestern University Medical School of Chicago, Chicago, Illinois, USA, and a Fellow for the Council for High Blood Pressure of the American Heart Association. She was the coordinator for the European Society of Hypertension Guidelines for the Management of High Blood Pressure in Children and Adolescents (2009 and 2016).
Lurbe has been IP in several International and National Networks/Projects and was awarded with the Talal Zein Award of the European Society of Hypertension (Milan 2011). Professor Lurbe has lectured widely, locally, nationally and internationally. She has authored numerous papers (more than 100), book chapters (more than 20) and is a member of the Editorial Board for several journals in the fields of Pediatrics and Hypertension.
