Emmanuel J. Favaloro PhD, FFSC

Prof Emmanuel Favaloro has been part of the NSW Health Landscape for over 40 years. He currently works at the Institute of Clinical Pathology and Medical Research (ICPMR), located within the Westmead Hospital precinct. He oversees haemostasis (“blood clotting”) testing within the Diagnostic Haemostasis Laboratory (DHL), a part of the Haematology Department. He has a major interest in laboratory diagnostic testing related to bleeding and thrombosis disorders. The DHL site performs all the special haemostasis testing referred from the West and Rural/Regional network of laboratories. Prof Favaloro also helped oversee the harmonisation/standardisation of all haemostasis testing performed within NSW Health Pathology. He has over 700 publications and is on the Editorial Board of several international journals. He is affiliated with both Charles Sturt University (Wagga Campus) and Sydney University (Westmead Campus).
