Emma joined the University of Huddersfield in September 2016 as a research fellow based in the Centre for Applied Research in Health. She started her academic career in the field of Sport and Exercise Physiology, completing her PhD at the University of Leeds in 2013. Following this she worked as a Post-doctoral Research Fellow in the Leeds Institute of Rheumatic and Musculoskeletal Medicine (2014 – 2016) where her responsibilities included the management, conduct, coordination and analysis of three clinical studies in patients with inflammatory diseases (e.g. polymyalgia rheumatica). Emma's current role at the University of Huddersfield will focus on generating research outputs and impact in the area of patient education and communication.
