Emily was awarded a BA (with highest honours) in psychology and social relations at Harvard University, Massachusetts USA, in 1977. While sitting her undergraduate degree, she was elected to the Phi Beta Kappa Society – America’s oldest Academic Honor Society. Then, from 1978 to 1982, she sat a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree at Harvard Medical School in Boston, USA. She completed her National Board Exams (USA) in 1978 (part I), 1980 (part II) and 1984 (part III).

Emily Simonoff is Professor of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry with the CAMHS Neuropsychiatry Service. She is also Head of the Department for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the Institute of Psychiatry, King’s College London, and academic lead for the CAMHS Clinical Academic Group at King’s Health Partners, King’s College London.

Professor Simonoff has been Chair of the Mental Health Research Network on assessment and treatment of mental health problems in children with intellectual disability since 2007. She is also a Member of the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) guideline development group.
