Emily M. Hayden, MD, MHPE, an attending physician at Massachusetts General Hospital Department of Emergency Medicine, received her MD from Indiana University School of Medicine. She completed her residency in emergency medicine at Indiana University School of Medicine. Dr. Hayden then completed a fellowship in the Gilbert Program in Medical Simulation with Harvard Medical School and MGH. Dr. Hayden completed a master's degree in Health Profession Education (MHPE) at University of Illinois at Chicago. She is currently an instructor of surgery at Harvard Medical School.

Dr. Hayden's area of interest is Teaching and Educational Leadership. During her post-fellowship years she has coordinated new simulation courses at Harvard Medical School, taught in Harvard Macy Institute courses, and consulted internationally with Partners Harvard Medical International. Dr. Hayden has also mentored fellows and residents with interests in medical education and medical simulation. On a national level, Dr. Hayden has been invited to participate in writing groups on medical simulation as well as presentations on medical education. Internationally, she has been invited by Partners Harvard Medical International to present on simulation in Islamabad, Pakistan (video-conferenced), Nice, France, and Dresden, Germany. She also was a keynote speaker in Singapore for the Emerging Innovations in Emergency Medicine forum for the Agency of Science and Technology Research.
