Emily Day has been Assistant Professor of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Delaware since 2013. Prior to joining Delaware, she trained as a postdoctoral fellow in the Chemistry Department at Northwestern University.

Dr. Day’s research uses a multidisciplinary approach to engineer nanoparticles with unique physical and chemical properties so that they can be used to transform the study, detection, and treatment of cancer. Through careful design of nanoparticles’ architecture and surface chemistry, she seeks to understand the structure/function relationship between these nanomaterials and complex biological systems, and then apply this knowledge to develop and implement advanced nanomaterials that solve key challenges in oncology.
