Emily Callander PhD

Dr. Emily Callander, Phd was a Associate Professor of Health Economics at Monash University. Callander specialise in value-based healthcare, and measuring the impact of healthcare on reducing inequalities, both health and economic. Callander have a particular interest in maternal and child health. Callander gained a PhD in Health Economics from the University of Sydney in 2012. Callander have worked as an economics academic since 2007 previously at Griffith University and the University of Sydney. Callander am a member of the Economics Subcommittee of the Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee (PBAC) where Callander provide health economics advice to the PBAC regarding drugs seeking listing on the PBS.

Callander specialise in evaluations of interventions and models of care for their efficacy, efficiency and equity. In addition to assessing the impact on the health system, this also includes assessing out of pocket costs, economic resources and the distribution of health outcomes across different socioeconomic groups.

Callander was a leading a team of health economists who specialise in embedding these value considerations, and patient perspective of healthcare costs and outcomes into the economic evaluation of health programs. Callander have strong quantitative analysis skills, with extensive experience in modeling health and healthcare costs using SAS. Emily team has expertise in administrative data analysis, data linkage and biostatistics.
