Emad T. Aboud, M.D. a fully trained neurosurgeon and the director of the micro neurosurgery laboratory at the Arkansas Neuroscience Institute (ANI) at CHI St. Vincent Infirmary in Little Rock, AR, USA.

Dr. Aboud is responsible for creating the Aboud Model for Surgical Training, the “Live Cadaver” (a life-like simulation method that provides laboratory training for developing and refining surgical skills, especially for microsurgery, with the use of human cadavers connected to a pump to provide pulsating pressure transmitted to blood vessels containing liquid. This method provides a condition that simulates live surgery in terms of bleeding, pulsation, and fluid filling of the vascular tree.  It can be applied to the whole cadaver or to a particular part such as the head, arm, or leg or to an isolated organ like the heart, liver, or kidney to teach surgical techniques and the management of traumatic injuries particularly combat and war injuries. The method can also be applied to ethically sourced animal cadaver specimens for veterinary surgical training eliminating the use of live healthy animals for this purpose. Dr. Aboud was an invited speaker in national and international meetings, he has delivered almost 100 presentations on the Aboud Model and other relevant topics related to his field of expertise. He has also published multiple articles and book chapters in the neurosurgical literature. Prior to joining the ANI at St. Vincent, Dr. Aboud served as an assistant professor for research at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS), Little Rock, AR, USA.
