Dr. Elvis Peter is a fellowship-trained interventional cardiologist who uses minimally invasive procedures to open up blockages in the heart, legs or other parts of the vascular system. Dr. Peter’s expertise is in catheter-based procedures that use an artery in the wrist as an entry point instead of an artery in the groin for less bleeding risk and quicker recovery times for patients.
He also performs minimally invasive procedures to correct problems with heart valves as well as close holes and other defects in the heart. His field of research has been peripheral artery disease or PAD, a condition that affects millions of Americans and causes pain in the legs with walking due to problems with blood supply to the legs.????

Prior to becoming a cardiologist, Dr. Peter was a hospitalist and board-certified internal medicine and sleep medicine physician at Howard Young Medical Center in Minocqua. These skill sets in areas often related to heart disease give him experience and insights into providing superior heart care.????

“Having lived in the Northwoods for 7 years, I am happy to be back home in Wisconsin,” he said. When not spending time with his two daughters and wife, he loves to be out on the golf course, though, as he says; “My golfing ability has yet to match my love of the game.”????

Dr. Peter went to medical school at Armed Forces Medical College in India. He did his internal medicine residency at State University of New York at Buffalo. He completed fellowships in cardiovascular diseases at Louisiana State University at Shreveport and interventional cardiology at the University of Massachusetts Medical School.????
