Elsa Jungman PhD

Elsa Jungman has almost 10 years of experience in dermatological and skincare research. In 2009 she pursued her Master Thesis at UCSF with Professor Howard Maibach where she worked on in vitro models to study ion aggression from the skin. She completed her Ph.D. in 2012 at the University of Paris-Sud in France where she developed several models for the prediction of skin absorption with analytical chemistry and spectroscopic tools such as IR-FTIR microscopy (synchrotron source), fluorescence spectroscopy and chromatography.

After graduating she joined the Cosmetic market leader, L’Oréal, in the Paris Area. She managed the International skin delivery studies and implemented the outsourcing of skin delivery activities. She also designed clinical and in vitro protocols to evaluate the efficacy of cosmetic products and devices.

She moved in 2015 to the SF Bay Area and has since been working with several biotech startups first as a Business Developer – R&D Project Manager and now as a Product Manager and skin scientist at AOBiome, a company targeting the skin microbiome for new therapies. She is also an independent consultant for a medical device company.

Elsa main scientific expertise is spread across dermal delivery, in vitro/ex vivo skin model, non-invasive clinical skin discovery study, quantitative bioanalysis (HPLC UV, LC MSMS) and the skin barrier function.
