Els Visser PhD

Els practiced various sports from an early age until in 2008 she focused her full attention on her studies in medicine. Els traveled the world for studies. During a trip through Indonesia in 2014, the boat she had taken with 24 other passengers suddenly sank in the middle of the night. Els was forced to swim for eight hours to a nearby island where she was finally rescued the next day by a passing boat. This bizarre experience has led Els to want to live her life to the fullest and pursue her dreams.

She did her first triathlon in 2016 and the first Ironman in Switzerland in 2017. This brought her to the official pro triathlon ranks. A year later she unexpectedly took her first prize and became the Ironman champion of the Netherlands.

Els is very ambitious and has several future goals. One of these is winning the Ironman in Kona, Hawaii. She is also a doctor and received her Ph.D. in surgery in 2019. She wants to use her knowledge to promote an active and healthy lifestyle, with the aim of preventing diseases and increasing happiness.
