Dr. Neufeld received both MD and PhD degrees in 1985 from Washington University, St. Louis. He completed specialty training in Pediatrics and Medical Genetics at Boston Children’s Hospital, and in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and and Boston Children’s, where he joined the faculty in 1990. Dr. Neufeld is co-chief of the Clinical Research Center and Program Director of the Clinical and Translational Studies Unit at Boston Children’s. He directs the Harvard Blood Scholars K12 training program sponsored by the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute. He is an international leader in iron overload in thalassemia, and of ITP. He is Associate Chief of the Division of Hematology/Oncology and Medical Director of the Boston Hemophilia Center
