Elizabeth qualified from Imperial College London in 1996 (having taken an intercalated BSc in Neurosciences). She trained as a Psychiatrist in Manchester and Cambridge, and has worked as a Consultant Psychiatrist in both General Adult Psychiatry and Rehabilitation Psychiatry. She took periods out of clinical training to complete a Post-graduate Diploma (conversion course) with the College of Law, MA in Medical Ethics and Law at King’s College London and a PhD supervised by Prof. Tony Holland and Dr Isabel Clare (Department of Psychiatry, University of Cambridge).

Since 2008, Elizabeth has been running the Ethics and Law component of the Clinical Course, one of the vertical themes that integrate the three stages of the course. She is Component Co-chair for Paper III of the Final MB Examination. She is also a regular contributor to the Professionalism component of the Clinical Course and to the MRCPsych Course at Fulbourn Hospital.
